New month, new unit!

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all doing well. Its the turn of May, and the start of June also means the start of a new unit. This week we also had presentations and the small matter of a reflection for unit 1.

This week started off with the students learning about some of the important nutrients that our bodies need, such as protein, fibre, carbohydrates, vitamins and more. This ties together the entire unit and connects all the concepts, and subjects that the students have learned in unit 1, such as the evolution of human beings, the different body systems and learning about nutrients was key to helping students understand the importance of taking care of their bodies.

The students also learned about other ways to take care of your body, such as exercise, rest and hygiene. There were other ideas that were introduced such as adjusting to weather and climate changes.

To conclude, the students prepared slideshow presentations to the grade 5 students. This was quite a good success as the grade 6 students felt a little pressure to do well, which they did. And the grade 5 students played a big role in taking down notes and asking questions at the end of each groups presentation.

This week also came with a new unit for the grade 6 class. We will begin learning about plants, why they are important to the world and how we can protect plants. This is quite an important and interesting topics which will be pretty good for the students to learn from and enjoy.
